The bill to establish Maryland Climate Education Week advances

Maryland State House.

Maryland's House Bill 993 (PDF), which would establish Maryland Climate Education Week, passed the House on a 100-3 vote on March 18, 2024.

If enacted, the bill would require the state's governor annually to proclaim the first week of April as Maryland Climate Education Week. The proclamation would urge the state's residents to "participate in educational activities and initiatives that promote an awareness of climate change" and "take action toward the State's climate commitments."

Having passed the House, House Bill 993 is now with the Senate Education, Energy, and the Environment committee.
