NCSE Supporter President-Elect of AIBS

Marvalee Wake, NCSE Supporter and Professor Emerita of Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, was elected as the president-elect of the American Institute for Biological Sciences; her term as president begins in 2005. Congratulations from all of us at NCSE!

Founded by federal charter in 1947, the American Institute of Biological Sciences is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) scientific association with a membership of approximately 6,000 biologists and 86 professional societies and other organizations whose combined membership exceeds 240,000 biologists. AIBS promotes an understanding and appreciation of the natural living world, including the human species and its welfare, by engaging in coalition activities with its members in research, education, public policy, and public outreach; publishing the journal BioScience; providing scientific peer review and advisory services to government agencies and other clients; convening scientific meetings; and performing administrative and operational services for its member organizations.
