On May 10, 2006, Brian Alters delivered a lecture on "Evolution and Education" in the National Institute of Health's Evolution and Medicine lecture series, presented by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, the Office of Science Education, and the National Human Genome Research Institute. His lecture is now available on-line to view in RealPlayer format. Alters is the Tomlinson Chair in Science Education, director of the Tomlinson University Science Education Project, and Sir William Dawson Scholar at McGill University. He is the author of several books, including Defending Evolution, coauthored with Sandra M. Alters, and Teaching Biological Evolution in Higher Education. He testified as an expert witness on science education for the plaintiffs in Kitzmiller v. Dover. Alters was awarded NCSE's "Friend of Darwin" award in 2005, in which year he also became a member of NCSE's board of directors.
